How do I use my own photo or PDF as stationery? 🔗

Penbook can import custom stationery in two ways:

Making a new penbook from a PDF

To make a new penbook from a PDF, navigate to the home screen of the app. Then, click Import from PDF. Select the PDF you want to use to create a penbook. You can use this penbook as normal (including adding/re-arranging pages, changing stationery, and exporting).

Inserting a photo or PDF into an existing penbook

To insert a photo or PDF into an existing penbook, take these steps:

  • Open the penbook you want to insert into
  • In the top bar, press the Add page icon
  • In the top bar, press the Settings gear
  • Press Import stationery (image or PDF)

The photo or PDF you select will be inserted as stationery.

If you import a multi-page PDF, new pages will be inserted for the second, third, etc. pages of the imported PDF.

How do I synchronize my penbooks with OneDrive? 🔗

You can sync your penbooks to and from OneDrive from the app's home screen:

Before synchronizing, you need to authorize Penbook to use your OneDrive account:

  1. Navigate to Penbook's home screen
  2. Press the Cloud button in the top-right
  3. The OneDrive authorization flow will appear. Please follow the sign-in instructions to grant Penbook access to its folder in your OneDrive account. (You only have to do this once per PC.)

To upload your local copy to OneDrive:

  1. Navigate to Penbook's home screen
  2. Press the ... button under the penbook you want to upload
  3. Press Upload

A spinner will appear on the cloud icon, indicating the upload is in progress. When your upload is complete, a green checkmark will appear on the cloud icon.

To download a penbook from OneDrive:

  1. Navigate to Penbook's home screen
  2. Press the Cloud icon in the top-right
  3. Check the boxes next to the penbooks you wish to download
  4. Press the Download button. If you already have this penbook locally on your device, you will be prompted for confirmation that you wish to overwrite your local copy of the penbook with OneDrive's copy.

How do I delete a Penbook? 🔗

On the Home screen, press the ... button, then choose Options. At the bottom, press Remove Penbook.

How do I print or export a Penbook? 🔗

From the Home screen, press the ... button below the Penbook you want to export. Buttons for Print, and Share will appear.

From within a penbook, you can share, export, or print a specific page. Press the Hamburger button (the 3 lines in the top-left of the app), then press Export and Print to see the available options for single-page export.

Where does Penbook store my work? 🔗

Penbooks live in here:

How can I open Penbook with my pen's top button? 🔗

Take the following steps to open Penbook from your pen's top button:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Navigate to Pen and Windows Ink
  3. Under Pen Shortcuts, choose Launch a universal app under Click once
  4. Choose Penbook from your list of universal apps

How do I insert pictures into a penbook? 🔗

You can insert your own pictures into any penbook.

When editing your penbook, choose a picture (JPG, PNG, GIF, or BMP) to insert with one of the following methods:

  • Press the Photo button, and select an image
  • Drag one or more images from File Explorer into your penbook
  • Press Ctrl + i on your keyboard
  • Paste (using Ctrl + v or the Paste button) when there is an image on your clipboard

Inserted images can be rotated with the rotation handle, or cropped and scaled with the scale handle.

Images are always inserted under ink (so you can write on top of them).

How do I rotate the ruler? 🔗

You can twist the ruler with two fingers to rotate it to any angle. If you're not using a touch screen, position your cursor over the ruler and use the scroll gesture (on a trackpad) or the scroll wheel (on a mouse).

How do I use shape recognition? 🔗

Shape recognition operates on ink that you select. To use it:

  1. Draw a shape
  2. Select it with the lasso tool
  3. Under the selection menu, press the cube

The selected shape will be converted to a resizable and rotatable image, nicely squared/rounded from your strokes.

How do I enable finger input? 🔗

Press the Finger button in the drawing toolbar (at the top of the screen). This will enable you to draw and erase with your finger. (You can also do this to enable drawing with a non-active pen or other stylus.)
